Pamper Yourself  With a Spa Bathroom

Award Winning Spa Master Bath in Holly Springs, NC

Ann Marie and Mike loved their home and their neighborhood in Holly Springs NC. They had been living there for ten years, but their Master Bathroom had become outdated and uninspiring. They had a large Jacuzzi garden tub that was never used and took up a lot of floor space. Their shower was outdated and felt small and there was nowhere to put all of the shampoo bottles and shower accessories. They longed for a larger shower and a warm and inviting space.

The look and feel of a Spa Bathroom appealed to them, so we got to work.

We combined the space taken up by the old shower and tub and created a large continuous shower space, and added a half-wall tiled on both sides with several large “shampoo nooks” inside the shower to hold all of the shower accessories and keep them hidden from sight. A frame-less “Rain Glass” shower wall added a measure of privacy. We built a tiled seat just outside the shower enclosure that served as a “drying area”, and added a small tiled foot rest in one corner of the shower for ease of shaving. The multi-purpose shower fixtures included a large overhead “Rain Head”, and a hand-held shower head on a slide bar for showering or hand-held use.

For one of the most used pieces of furniture in the home, the bathroom vanity, we designed and installed a wall-mounted double vanity with a storage tower in the middle for storing and hiding every day accessories. The wall hung mirrors, ceiling can lights, and a pendant light over each sink rounded out the amenities. A special touch to the granite counter top was added to hold a hand or shower towel.

The warm rich tones of the porcelain tile with generous accents and the exquisite natural pebble shower floor added pizzazz and the “Wow” factor we were looking for. The earth tone color palette accented the rich dark wood of the vanity beautifully.

Ann Marie’s and Mike’s new Spa Bath is now a special space and luxurious retreat that they forward to using every day!

Apex NC Aging in Place Master Bedroom Suite Addition

Susan and Doug loved their two-story home set on a lovely large and secluded wooded lot in a quiet and centrally located neighborhood in Apex, NC.

They decided that they would retire in the home, but were aware of their need to transition to a first-floor fully accessible living environment as they aged so that they could remain in their home as long as possible. Our solution was to design and build a first-floor Master Bedroom Suite Home Addition that flows seamlessly into the other living areas on their first floor, and also serves to bring more of the “outdoors in”, allowing them to enjoy more of their lovely large wooded back yard and gardens.

The Aging in Place and Special Needs Accessible Master Bedroom Suite Addition transformed their two-story home into a fully accessible and functional 1st Floor retirement home, with guest suites on the 2nd Floor!

The Master Suite Addition features a large master bedroom with generous windows that looks out on the lovely wooded back yard and creates a light and bright interior. The large master bathroom features an amazing tiled barrier-free shower, large closet, free-standing tub, and fully wheelchair accessible water closet.

Kitchen Design and Remodel in Cary NC

Sonya and Mark bought their dream home in Cary NC and decided to update key areas before they moved in. They wanted to to reconfigured their Laundry Room and completely remodel the Kitchen.

They were drawn toward a green/blue color palette, and our green painted “distressed” wood cabinets resonated with their design tastes. They were worried that they might create a "negative" when they sold the house later, but we convinced them to "follow their hearts" and create the kitchen that they will love to be in every day.

We rounded out the design with antique nickel pulls and knobs and “Jade” granite granite counter tops that contained colors of all of her design elements including the slate mosaic tile backsplash, which all came together to spectacularly compliment each other.

The 36″ Pro Range with a stainless steel back splash and hood was something Sonya had grown up with in her Mother’s kitchen and this was an emotional “must have” for her. We reconfigured the cabinet and appliance layout to facilitate easier flow and usability, and also continued with the slate mosaic tile into the adjoining family room by re-facing the brick fireplace surround and hearth, and their new "dream home" was complete!

They appreciated our interest in environmental responsibility, resource conservation, energy efficient and green solutions, and recycling. She was very interested in our relationship with Habitat For Humanity and our commitment to donate all re-usable items that we removed from their home during the renovation that we could.

STAR Award presented to Paradise Found Construction by Home Builders Association

– Best Bathroom $30-35k

Recently, the Remodelers Council, formed by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, awarded its yearly STAR Awards, which showcase Triangle achievements in remodeling. The Council was created to help improve professionalism among remodeling contractors and to provide information to the public about selecting a contractor. The awards program recognizes local remodeling companies for their work during the previous year, in such categories as Best Kitchen or Best Outdoor Living.

This year, we are honored to be the recipient of the STAR Award for Best Bathroom $30K to $35K.

The project for which we earned the recognition was for a couple in Holly Springs NC. They love their home but their master bath was outdated, and they wanted to upgrade to more of a spa bathroom look and feel.

After consulting with the couple, we came up with a new bathroom design. We would remove their old fixtures, including the jacuzzi, the shower, vanity, lighting and tile, and we’d replace it all with a more modern, user friendly setting. We also designed their new setup to have more usable space. We added more shower space by combining the area of the old shower and tub. Additional space was created for accessories in the shower, as well as out, via a more modern vanity.

The overall feel of the new master bath was completed with mirrors, special lighting, and tiles in a warm, rich tone.

STAR Awards nominees are judged using the following criteria: workmanship, detailing, quality of materials used, overall appearance, floor plan and design, lighting, special touches, overall customer service and responsiveness and overall customer satisfaction.

We are proud to be this year’s recipient of the STAR Award for Best Insurance Renovation given by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County’s Remodelers Council.

The project for which we were recognized was a basement renovation. The home owner came to notice a pinhole leak in the hot water supply line. Because the line is located in a rarely accessed part of the basement, by the time the leak was noticed the damage was done. The leak had been spraying steamy mist throughout the area, which ultimately caused a 100% moisture content in the walls and ceiling.

Moist areas are a breeding ground for mold spores, and this basement’s moisture level allowed the mold colonies to cover all exposed surfaces. This was exacerbated by the HVAC system’s return and supply line, which circulated the spores.

The home owner had to remove everything from the location, cleaning what was salvageable and storing the rest. Then came the deconstruction phase, including the excavation of the entire front wall of the basement. New drains had to be installed and expert mold remediation had to be done.

Once that was complete, we were able to go in and start our rebuilding process. We created a new large bedroom adjoining the full bath and redesigned and updated the wet bar/kitchenette. We also enlarged the bathroom and updated it to include a lovely walk-in tiled shower with frameless shower glass and soap niches, a carefully designed and coordinated vanity with a granite top, new lighting and a wall-hung mirror, as well as tile flooring.

The new living spaces functioned and looked so much better than the original areas. Many energy and water efficiencies, as well as the vastly improved indoor air quality, helped transform the basement into a bright, warm, rich, and inviting sanctuary.
